Manuel Bazán
Carpets from Manuel Bazán are very tightly hand- woven following the zapotec tradition in their fine patterns (about 25 threads per inch!). Hand- carded wool and absolutely natural dyes are the basis for beautiful and timeless carpets. In his family the production of dyes from plants or of the famous cochinilla-red prepared from a cactus scale insect has a special tradition. How carefully they spin and dye the wool is the secret of top quality from the ancient center of the zapotec culture of carpet weaving in the valley of Teotitlán. Each one is a unique piece!
