Tiburcio Soteno and his son Carlos are living with their family in Metepec, about 50 km west of Mexico City. Master Tiburcio inherited his skills from his mother Modesta Fernández and all of his creations are famous for the exuberance of finest details. His trees of life (árboles de la vida) are always based on historic events, be it of Mexican legends or scenes from the bible. They are baked with high temperatures.
He is an outstandig artist and has taken part in many exhibitions and numerous contests and was winning his first prices and diplomas already in the 80ies of last century. Carlos is Tiburcio´s eldest son, and he has developed his own and very individual style not only for trees of life. His artwork is showing a modern and unique way of integrating traditional symbols and motives. Therefore he is already sought after by collectors.
