Isaac Vásquez is the most outstanding weaver of Teotitlán del valle. "THE BUG IN THE RUG" is the brand name for his hand-woven carpets. Isaac Vásquez has achieved a high international reputation, and he was the first to use natural dyes again- many years ago- instead of chemical dyes and is dedicating himself to the creative performance of traditional zapotec motives of exceptional high quality (about 25 threads per inch).
In many museums around the world you can already find his tapestries and carpets as a sample of high- class and creative weaving from the Teotitlán valley in Oaxaca. For more than 20 years Isaac Vásquez was also working with the famous Mexican painter Rufino Tamayo, with a very inspiring effect on his own work. He will never make more than two pieces of the same design, and he is signing those unique pieces with his woven initials. NEW: for our European customers!
